Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/351 represents one of the most significant updates to the EU Plastics Regulation (EU) No 10/2011, introducing stricter expectations for additive purity and enhanced control of impurities and non‑intentionally added substances (NIAS) in plastic food‑contact materials.

Demonstrating a high degree of purity and robust NIAS control is now a core compliance requirement for additive suppliers serving the food‑contact market.

" Demonstrating high additive purity and robust control of impurities and NIAS is now a core compliance requirement under Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/351," comments Hany Anwar, Additive Expert at Norner.

Additive analyses at Norner

Norner support additive manufacturers

Norner works with additive manufacturers to support compliance with the amended EU Plastics Regulation through advanced analytical assessment of additives. This includes the identification and quantification of impurities and non‑intentionally added substances (NIAS) relevant for food‑contact applications.

The analytical work is based on a broad set of complementary techniques, including Pyrolysis‑GC/MS, GC‑MS, HPLC, LC‑MS and ICP‑MS. Together, these methods enable systematic characterisation of both volatile and non‑volatile impurities and NIAS.

By combining advanced analytics with deep regulatory and food‑contact expertise, Norner delivers robust, defensible data that helps additive suppliers meet regulatory expectations and bring products to market with confidence.
